MMC 2-inch (175 mm) with phlegm centring device — multilayer column for distillation
The MMC SK 2-inch multi-tube, multilayer column with phlegm centring device is an effective solution for improving distillation quality and increasing equipment productivity. Can be used with a standard diopter.
The column construction includes 7 sylphon (corrugated) tubes, each 160 mm long and just 0.2 mm thick, which ensures significantly more efficient heat and mass transfer compared to conventional models.
Phlegm runs down each tube, where it re-evaporates due to the higher temperature of the steam passing through the tube. The phlegm running down the corrugated tube moves in the form of a layer.
Why is a MMC needed?
A MMC is used to improve distillation efficiency: it allows for an increase in the strength of the outgoing product, a higher product output (by retaining the ‘body’ until higher temperatures are reached in the cube) and ensures more stable column operation without sudden temperature fluctuations.
As opposed to standard MMCs with smooth 1 mm thick tubes (11 tubes), this model:
- provides 33% greater heat transfer area
- has walls that are 5 times thinner, which accelerates heat transfer
- increases the column’s efficiency several times over
